Holding On (Colorado High Country #6) —
The Colorado High Country series returns with Conrad and Kenzie's story.

A hero barely holding on…

Harrison Conrad returned to Scarlet Springs from Nepal, the sole survivor of a freak accident on Mt. Everest. Shattered and grieving for his friends, he vows never to climb again and retreats into a bottle of whiskey—until Kenzie Morgan shows up at his door with a tiny puppy asking for his help. He’s the last person in the world she should ask to foster this little furball. He’s barely capable of managing his own life right now, let alone caring for a helpless, adorable, fluffy puppy. But Conrad has always had a thing for Kenzie with her bright smile and sweet curves. One look into her pleading blue eyes, and he can’t say no.

The woman who won’t let him fall…

Kenzie Morgan’s life went to the dogs years ago. A successful search dog trainer and kennel owner, she gets her fill of adventure volunteering for the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team. The only thing missing from her busy life is love. It’s not easy finding Mr. Right in a small mountain town, especially when she’s unwilling to date climbers. She long ago swore never again to fall for a guy who might one day leave her for a rock. When Conrad returns from a climbing trip haunted by the catastrophe that killed his best friend, Kenzie can see he’s hurting and wants to help. She just might have the perfect way to bring him back to the world of the living. But friendship quickly turns into something more—and now she’s risking her heart to heal his.

In ebook and soon in print!

A fun and true story

So one afternoon I'm sitting in my special writing chair, looking like a complete slob, answering email and piddling around with the epilogue of Untamed when I see my mail carrier, a sweet woman named Devona, walk up to my door with a bag in her hand and my mail.

Devona has delivered my mail since I moved to this address ten years ago. We've had a few chats out front by the mailbox. She knew when I sold my first book because I put "Pamela Clare" on my mailbox. She and I both quilt, and so we've talked about that, too. We complained about the weather — especially the epic six feet of snow that turned our street into an obstacle course in 2006 — and waved hello to one another many times. Needless to say, I'm always happy to see her.

But this was a little different. I opened the door, and as she was handing me my mail, she said, "I don't know why it took me so long to read your books!" And in the bag were my I-Team books. Speaking very quickly, Devona told me how much she had enjoyed them and asked me if I would autograph them. I was thrilled to do that, of course, and then I asked her which books I might have that she does not yet have. She left with a few historicals in that bag, as well.

As she left she told me I'm going to be a mega-bestseller one day. (I can only hope God was listening.)

She also mentioned that she has visited my website and this blog. So I'm hoping she might see this and pop in and say hello. Devona, if you do see this, please know you're welcome. And I'd love to know what you thought of the historicals, if you've had time to read them.

And thanks! Having a surprise book signing in my own living room was a lot of fun.

That is such a sweet story PC. I have to tell you that when I was living in my tiny apartment in Cleveland that my mail carrier looked EXACTLY like Stephen King! No kidiing. It was sort of freaky. I would imagine myself in one of his books or movies about a psyco mailman.

You are so very kind and good to your readers/fans and we really do apreciate it. I will never forget my special book signing in your kitchen!!

What great fun!
My dad was a mailcarrier for years and he used to come home with the best stories. LOL.

Devona, please, join us!!

That is so sweet that you approachable like that. I hope you will stay that way when you become mega famous!

Hugs,

SueZAY! That's freaky about your mail carrier. Stephen King? You have a vivid imagination, m'lass. I'll never forget that book signing either, one, because it was so fun having you there and, two, because I was so drunk on sangria. Did you see below where I defined PGB?

Ronlyn, I can only imagine what mail carriers see day in day out for years. Cool that your dad had that job.

Debbie, if I'm ever NOT approachable, if I ever get on my high horse and mistake myself for someone important, please smack me. I don't get the whole "celebrity" thing.

That is way cool, and Devona sounds really nice.

My unsigned stuff sits patiently, waiting for the day I pack it for a road trip.I refuse to mail it *G*

I'm looking forward to signing those books, Bo. just make sure I'm not drunk beforehand. :-)

Hello Hope you are well, I started a new book today one of yours, its called Sweet Release Im already trying to be a detective trying to figure out who tried to kill Alec I cant wait to see if Im right, I want to say I think that is so wonderful that you would sign something for one of your fans at your home I dont get the "celebrity" thing either I went to see a country singer who wouldnt sign anything for all the fans who came out to see him which to me was wrong people bought all kinds of things to be sign they waited for an hour for him to come off his bus for him to just pull off if I was a celebrity I would always sign no matter what because its the fans who come to watch the movies, cds, dvds, etc that get us the rewards of their hard work. I wish all that got on that high horse could have your kindness :)

Hi, Tena,

Sorry to hear about that country singer who was suck a jerk. I think he's forgotten that his loving fans are the reason he gets to do what he does. I'm thrilled you found a copy of Sweet Release. That's hard to come by these days. And I'm delighted to know that you enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy Carnal Gift as well. By the time you finish it (or soon after) your prize will be there and you can keep going. I'm sending you a signed copy of Ride the Fire. :-)

Hi, Cheryl! Great to see you! And thanks! I thought it was very sweet of her, and such a surprise!
