Holding On (Colorado High Country #6) —
The Colorado High Country series returns with Conrad and Kenzie's story.

A hero barely holding on…

Harrison Conrad returned to Scarlet Springs from Nepal, the sole survivor of a freak accident on Mt. Everest. Shattered and grieving for his friends, he vows never to climb again and retreats into a bottle of whiskey—until Kenzie Morgan shows up at his door with a tiny puppy asking for his help. He’s the last person in the world she should ask to foster this little furball. He’s barely capable of managing his own life right now, let alone caring for a helpless, adorable, fluffy puppy. But Conrad has always had a thing for Kenzie with her bright smile and sweet curves. One look into her pleading blue eyes, and he can’t say no.

The woman who won’t let him fall…

Kenzie Morgan’s life went to the dogs years ago. A successful search dog trainer and kennel owner, she gets her fill of adventure volunteering for the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team. The only thing missing from her busy life is love. It’s not easy finding Mr. Right in a small mountain town, especially when she’s unwilling to date climbers. She long ago swore never again to fall for a guy who might one day leave her for a rock. When Conrad returns from a climbing trip haunted by the catastrophe that killed his best friend, Kenzie can see he’s hurting and wants to help. She just might have the perfect way to bring him back to the world of the living. But friendship quickly turns into something more—and now she’s risking her heart to heal his.

In ebook and soon in print!

A Visit To Ranger Country — The Movie

We interrupt these hero interviews to bring you a short video look at Ranger Country.

My son, Ben, a film major at Ithaca College in NY, took a little hand-held cam-corder and did some "guerilla filmmaking" of the places we visited. He got very caught up in what we were seeing as well, so there wasn't a lot of footage in the end. We had intended to do a mini-documentary. But we didn't have enough time and Ben wouldn't have been able to enjoy himself.

So this is some edited footage set with a truly Benjy soundtrack. Enjoy! And watch till the end...

That's me without coffee!

Also, please forgive the truly hideous boat hair. You'll see what I mean.

If you want to see/learn more, find my Travel Diaries here in the archives.

Are you kidding??? It looks like a haystack. But thanks, Christi. Ben was very sweet to make this for me. Next time we'll do the big documentary, now that we've been there once. My poor mom and kid! They really made sure I got my coffee after that. :-)

How are things going for you? Drop me a line when you get a chance!

Your son did a great job. You know, I live in NY and NEVER knew of any of those places. It looks very interesting! I would love to go to Colonial Williamsburg one of these days. I love historical places.

And just so you know, if I was lost in a car with my girls and didn't have my coffee, I'd be much, much worse, lol.

Hi, Barbara —

I have to admit :::blushes::: that my son edited that video carefully. If he'd kept it going, you'd have heard a bit of profanity. I know he must have enjoyed getting that tidbit in because for the next three days, he and my mother would joke, "For God's sake, get her to a Starbucks!" Or I would see a coffee shop, and they would say, "Oh, it's closed. Didn't you see the sign?" And it would be open. They were just teasing me.

New York has some real treasures. Go north to Fort Edward. That's where Rogers Island is. If you need info on any of it, please let me know! Further north is Fort George, where Fort William Henry is located and the southern end of Lake George. About an hour north of that is Fort Ticonderoga/Carillon. It's all amazing!

Maybe one day I can take a bunch of you with me and to a tour!

Ben did a great job! And I guess he did some editing because honestly you didn't sound that bad to me. But that's probably because I've a sailor mouth with or without coffee.
I've always wanted to go to NYC (when I have money, ha!)but I think that now I'll have to plan to go up north too and visit the Forts. I didn't even know there were places like these to visit.

Thanks, Debbie. And CONGRATS on the new baby grandson! Welcome to the world, little Malachi! I'm so happy for you! And I'll pass your hugs along to Ben when I see him on SATURDAY. Woohoo!

Hi, Stef — Yes, he did do some editing. At one point I started dropping F-bombs, so I'm grateful for his very forgiving editing job. New York is an amazing state. You have NY City, which is huge — the ultimate metropolis. Then you have upstate NY, which feels like the middle of nowhere, no matter where you are, even more so than Colorado's empty reaches. I was really surprised. But it's quite beautiful and full of historical sites. I want to go back very soon. And thanks for your kind words about the video. I got a kick out of it.

LOL Looks like you got to enjoy some normal Upstate Fall weather, Rain. If it was State Route 28 you were looking for I travel that religously to visit my grandfather but much farther down state then where you were at. Great Video!

I have to say some of those place sound familiar. Not that I've been there, but I'm certain I've heard of them.

Yes, upstate New York is GORGEOUS. We take the kids up there every so often to a little petting zoo. The drive alone is beautiful.

It's a shame, most people who come here as tourists do so to see the city. Listen, I look at the city everyday and it isn't THAT spectacular. Crowds, honking horns and people cursing each other. Nah, I'll pass.
