Holding On (Colorado High Country #6) —
The Colorado High Country series returns with Conrad and Kenzie's story.

A hero barely holding on…

Harrison Conrad returned to Scarlet Springs from Nepal, the sole survivor of a freak accident on Mt. Everest. Shattered and grieving for his friends, he vows never to climb again and retreats into a bottle of whiskey—until Kenzie Morgan shows up at his door with a tiny puppy asking for his help. He’s the last person in the world she should ask to foster this little furball. He’s barely capable of managing his own life right now, let alone caring for a helpless, adorable, fluffy puppy. But Conrad has always had a thing for Kenzie with her bright smile and sweet curves. One look into her pleading blue eyes, and he can’t say no.

The woman who won’t let him fall…

Kenzie Morgan’s life went to the dogs years ago. A successful search dog trainer and kennel owner, she gets her fill of adventure volunteering for the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team. The only thing missing from her busy life is love. It’s not easy finding Mr. Right in a small mountain town, especially when she’s unwilling to date climbers. She long ago swore never again to fall for a guy who might one day leave her for a rock. When Conrad returns from a climbing trip haunted by the catastrophe that killed his best friend, Kenzie can see he’s hurting and wants to help. She just might have the perfect way to bring him back to the world of the living. But friendship quickly turns into something more—and now she’s risking her heart to heal his.

In ebook and soon in print!

NAKED EDGE is out!

Thanks to those of you who joined me through the countdown to the release of Naked Edge. That day is finally here! It's been one year and 11 months since Unlawful Contact brought you Marc and Sophie's story, so it's about time!

Today, help me celebrate the book’s release. There are lots of fun ways to do that.

The best way to celebrate is to get your hands on a copy of the book and spend the day or the evening reading, and then to come back and share your thoughts on the story. There are drawings for free copies of the book going on across the 'Net.

Chat with me here and be entered into a drawing to win one of FIVE autographed copies of Naked Edge that will be given away during the course of the day. Just share with me your favorite moment from a Naked Edge excerpt (listed here on this blog), and you’re in!

Or come to Borders True Romance, where I will be blogging all day, and be entered into a drawing for an autographed copy of the book there.

Visit Leontine's Book Realm to read an interview with me about the book and to be entered into the drawing there. We had a lively chat yesterday.

If you're out and about and see displays featuring Naked Edge, snap a photo, email it to me and I'll post it here.

Here are more ways to join in the fun:

If you are a reader and would like a matching bookmark or a signed bookplate to put in your copy of Naked Edge, send an e-mail or contact to me through my Web site's guestbook with your mailing address.

If you represent a readers group and would like bookmarks for your entire group, or if you want to set up a speaker phone chat with your readers group to discuss the book, please contact me, and we’ll set it up!

If you are a bookstore owner or employee and want bookmarks for your customers, let me know and I will get them in the mail to you.

If you love the cover of the book, go to my Web site and download the free wallpaper for your desktop.

Then stay tuned, because I'll be having an After The Epilogue chat later this month so that those of you who want to talk with me about the book can spend a couple of hours doing just that without worrying about spoilers.

Plus there will be more contests and craziness to come.

So get yourself a cup of coffee or tea, and help me make this the best I-Team book release party ever!

I am going out to the bookstore today and getting my copy. I have been waiting for a year for this book to be released and am so excited the day has come! I think my favorite excerpt so far was the scene where Gabe and Kat meet for the first time.

i love this moment,

"“Back pocket.” He shifted, drew her against him, almost tottering them both to the concrete as he nibbled her earlobe. “God, I want you! I want to kiss you until you can’t think. I want to kiss those perfect breasts. I want to taste you everywhere. I want to fuck you so damn bad. You don’t even know what I mean, do you?”

Kat was forced to press herself against him to reach his back pocket, her hand sliding over the worn denim of his jeans, only butter-soft fabric between her palm and the disturbingly hard muscles of his butt. “I… I think I do know what you mean.”

He groaned, his breath hot, his hips flexing against her, giving away his erection, his tongue seeking and teasing the whorl of her ear. “You might know what I mean, but you can’t really know what I mean. You’re extra virgin, honey."

You're making my night so HOT now Pamela :)

Makes me want to read the story after they get the keys !

Oh! Congratulations Pamela!! ;D

And I'd love to be entered in the contest. I'm just so broke right now, I'm not sure I can afford a new book yet. :(

Anyway, my fave excerpt of Naked Edge?

I'd have to say the drunk Gabe. Especially that scene when Kat picked him up and he keeps saying what he want to do with her. You know, cause he's drunk! That was so funny and Hot!! ;D

Anyway, congratulations again!

Ohhhh I desperately wish I could get my hands on a copy today! Unfortunately despite scrounging every last penny for a month I have to wait until my next payday on the 12th. It's painful to have to wait! I hope everyone else enjoys their copies today though! =)

Congratulations!!!! Do you get to take the day off and celebrate? A rare thing in the world of journalism, but I think this calls for it!! :) :)

As for me....last I heard, my copy of "Naked Edge" is somewhere around Lexington, KY. Getting closer to Salt Lake though! Can't wait to get my hands on Gabe...er..the book. ;)

"She kissed him again, tilting her head to better slant her mouth over his.
Christ!
He turned his face away, felt her lips brush his jaw. "Honey, you don't really want this. You've just lost—"
She made a little sound of protest, her arms sliding behind his head, drawing his lips closer to hers, as if to show him that she did really want it.
Good. So did he.
Ignoring the pathetic warnings of his conscience, he took control of the kiss, drawing her tight against him, capturing her mouth with his."

I think that's my favourite excerpt (even though it's hard to choose) when they kiss for the first time and Gabe tries to resist at first.....mmmmhh it's so sweet and sexy and just plain hot! *g*
I love all of your books and I'm so looking forward to reading Naked Edge, haven't got a copy yet, but soon, I hope.
Greetings from Germany!

So I was unable to hit up the Borders, since Lee Michael's took way too long (getting an engagement ring resized for my best friend god it's hard to keep secrets from roommates) and so I have to wait until today, when I don't get out of class until 8 pm :( But I figure its been almost two years. What's another day!
But as for my favorite excerpt it was the scene with marc and julian meeting Gabe. I love all three of them! so YAY RELEASE DAY!

I'm going to ditto mariska about the favorite part of the excerpt.

Congrats Pamela! I already have my copy as you know, but my favorite among the excerpts you've posted here has to be the male bonding one. Too funny, and sigh-worthy!

Huge congrats on the new release! Can't wait to read it!! : )

You know anytime the guys are together, the scene is sure to be a hit. "Every super hero needs a side kick." They are forever getting digs in on each other. :)
Love the comardarie, and the fun. Mix that with all the drama and lovin' your books always have, the combination is a sure fire winner! Congratulations! Hope you have a terrific day.
I've been thinking, and all other bday gifts aside (far, far aside) I think you SHOULD wear the tiara until next Feb. 29. :)

Hi Pamela! Congratulations on the release of "Naked Edge". I can't wait to read it. I saw on Christy Reece's website it was your birthday yesterday, so happy belated birthday!

One of my favorite parts of the excerpt is when Kat is kissing Gabe and Gabe is trying to fight his conscience and not give in but ends up losing the fight and kisses her back.

I heard there is a male bonding scene of past heros and Gabe, can't wait to read that.

I'd forgotten this comment:
"Every super hero needs a side kick."
But I literally just laughed out loud. LOL-again.

Hey, everyone!

I'm just popping in during a crazy day at the paper to say hello and thanks! I'm so happy to see you here.

I'll be catching up when things get under control here. Our ad designer's computer is on the fritz and we have an 88-page paper to get to press in 24 hours.

Be back soon!

Yippee. I'm cheering for another author who done good. This is sensuous and juicy hot. I love the short sentences as the dialogue gets more heated. Just came back from a reading by Dan Chaon of Await Your Reply where I took 7 pages of notes. From one writer to another, here's seeing you on the shelf.

I'm so sorry to have been MIA all day! Things were very busy at the paper, and that was before we lost a computer. I've had to bring work home with me, so I haven't yet had time to respond to your posts.

But THANK YOU for sharing today with me and for taking time to stop by. I'll be back...

Happy Release Day. I loved every part of the excerpt. Can't wait to read Gabe and Kat's story.

Hi Pamela,
I don't usually post on blogs but couldn't resist at all as I loved Naked Edge so much. I liked Kat and how she stood up for what she believed in. I am a Journalism student first year so the newsroom scenes with Tom and everyone are very interesting for me as well.
Gabe slowly through his actions warmed himself in my affections. Thanks for giving us all a wonderful book.
I loved the excerpt for Natalie's book and look forward to it. So will you be working on that now or the Historical?
Thanks yet again and I hope my most was not spoilery.
Saly

Not really fair because here in Sweden it's not actually release day but I DID order my copy from Borders. On the other hand...I DID get to read each chapter as they were written so I guess that's not fair either hahaha so all in all I it evens out but still...there's something special about a bound copy in your hands. I doubt I'll ever warm up to those electronic flat book things even though they do look like the ones from Star Trek. I like the feel of paper in my hands. But I digress as is my wont. Woo hoo for release day! Sorry you were so busy you could barely enjoy it yourself!

Got my copy today!!! (Finally, it was still in the back in the box) and I almost don't want to read it cause I don't want it to be over...

Time to pick some winners! Sorry I haven't been around. I'll explain in my next blog post — where I'll announce the winners' names. :-)

Stay tuned!

Joy and Liz P.! I want to send you your prizes. Can you email me your addresses? pamelaclare@earthlink.net

Congrats again!

I hope everyone is doing well!

I'm late to the party but just wanted to congratulate you on the great reviews for Naked Edge. Read the excerpt over at Borders True Romance Blog. I loved that Gabe is fighting against all his instincts to do right by Kat. What a man! LOL. Can't wait to read the full copy!

Better late than never, Scorpio. Welcome!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the excerpt. Poor Gabe! He tried so hard, and he did succeed in respecting her wishes despite every instinct to the contrary.

I'll be excited to hear what you think of the story overall. The reviews have been wonderful, with a few exceptions. I knew this story entailed taking risks, but it felt worthwhile to me.

Hope to see you again!

Pam....woman you are rippin me up! You just kill me. You had me crying AGAIN with Naked Edge!!!!! That's two in a row. I don't now how much more I can take woman! :o) AMAZING!!!!! You are just AMAZING! I LOVED Naked Edge. You never fail to delivery everything I love in a book. Awesome, lovable characters, a hot hero (sigh- YUM, YUM), hot love scenes (smokin), a great story and a rip your heart out scene. As always you gave a great happy-ever-after but you really gave us a rough one to swallow this time and I know you know what I'm talking about. I don't want to spoil it for anyone by saying any more. Gawd I love Gabe. How long do we have to wait for the next one? Not two years I hope!

Hi, Barb — I'm so glad you enjoyed the story! Thanks for taking the time to let me know. I know it sounds cruel, but I'm so happy the story touched you enough to make you cry.

I hope you don't have to wait for two years, either. I'm hoping to have Natalie's story is written before the end of the summer, so that it will be out early next year.

Thanks for stopping by!

BarbH said...

Pamela, I wish all the books I read made me cry. That's a sure sign of a winner and who can get enough of those.

As for the two years, I would rather it take that long, like you said, to get a quality book, than one that's rushed. I totally agree with you on that score but dang your books are so good it's tough to wait that long. I could read one right after another. :o) I remember when I got Extreme Exposure at the Reno convention just because I loved the cover, it sounded so good and you were so nice when we talked at the book signing. Needless to say that book hooked me. I'll have to try your historicals too.

I started my own blog so posted about NE there and also did a review at Amazon. This blogging thing is new to me but since I deactivated my facebook account I figured I needed some place to keep in touch with everyone.

Hi, Barb — What's the link to your blog? I can link to it her from my blog.

Thanks so much! I'm so glad you feel that way about the stories. I know two years is a long time.

I'd be interested to hear what you think of the historicals. It's a big jump from one sub-genre to the other, especially going from contemp RS to historical, I think.

BarbH said...

Here's the link to my blog. http://barblovesbooks.wordpress.com/ Not a whole lot on it yet, mostly about your book! LOL

I have a hot topic I'm going to try and post about tonight and I've decided I'm going to let fly and just say what I think no matter who it ticks off. Isn't that what blogs are about, your opinion? You'll have to come drop by and give your opinion. I'd be interested to hear what others say, especially an author. Hopefully I won't get hit with too many tomatoes by other readers and maybe find some support? :o)

Thanks for your kind words about NAKED EDGE. I really appreciate that. I'll have to pop by tonight and see what this controversial post is about.

:-)
