Holding On (Colorado High Country #6) —
The Colorado High Country series returns with Conrad and Kenzie's story.

A hero barely holding on…

Harrison Conrad returned to Scarlet Springs from Nepal, the sole survivor of a freak accident on Mt. Everest. Shattered and grieving for his friends, he vows never to climb again and retreats into a bottle of whiskey—until Kenzie Morgan shows up at his door with a tiny puppy asking for his help. He’s the last person in the world she should ask to foster this little furball. He’s barely capable of managing his own life right now, let alone caring for a helpless, adorable, fluffy puppy. But Conrad has always had a thing for Kenzie with her bright smile and sweet curves. One look into her pleading blue eyes, and he can’t say no.

The woman who won’t let him fall…

Kenzie Morgan’s life went to the dogs years ago. A successful search dog trainer and kennel owner, she gets her fill of adventure volunteering for the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team. The only thing missing from her busy life is love. It’s not easy finding Mr. Right in a small mountain town, especially when she’s unwilling to date climbers. She long ago swore never again to fall for a guy who might one day leave her for a rock. When Conrad returns from a climbing trip haunted by the catastrophe that killed his best friend, Kenzie can see he’s hurting and wants to help. She just might have the perfect way to bring him back to the world of the living. But friendship quickly turns into something more—and now she’s risking her heart to heal his.

Shackling bill passes Senate!

Just a quick and dirty update here...

Senate Bill 193, the shackling bill, passed out of the Senate this morning on a unanimous vote. All 35 members of the State Senate voted in support of it with no debate.

Now on to the House, where it has to make it through a Judiciary hearing and three readings on the House floor — in a week.

I'm ecstatic! So many people told me this couldn’t be done this year. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to them! There are women whose lives will be less traumatized and whose lives might even be saved because lawmakers put their differences aside to pass this bill.

Thanks, everyone, for your crossed fingers and prayers. I hope that by the end of next week Colorado will be the eighth state to pass restrictions on shackling. Then we have to figure out how to change the law in your home states.

Congratulations, Pamela! :oD

Thank you, Rita!

Of course, it never ends. Five minutes after it passes, I find out that DOC — bunch of snakes! — have gotten an amendment written in to the House version of the bill that essentially nullifies the strip-search provision and allows them to shackle women in labor on the way to the hospital and women who've just had babies. Try changing your sanitary pad with one hand.

GRRR! Now I'm so steamed! I'm trying to get DOC's amendment taken off.

How disgusting! For pete's sake...where do they think these women are going to go???? Have they any documented cases of a woman escaping under these circumstances? I hope you can get that amendment taken off. >:o(

If only men could go through this once, the would have a whole new outlook on it all.

Keep after them and don't take your eyes off of them for a second.

Oh I'm so happy to hear that it's made it through so far. And I'm hoping along with you that it makes it past the next hurdle

Congratulations Pamela! You did a great job and will do another great one to take off this amendment!
You have all my support from Paris/ France!

Yay for you, and BOO HISS to DOC. What's the difference between a dead skunk and a dead bureaucrat in the road? There are skid marks in front of the skunk.
