Holding On (Colorado High Country #6) —
The Colorado High Country series returns with Conrad and Kenzie's story.

A hero barely holding on…

Harrison Conrad returned to Scarlet Springs from Nepal, the sole survivor of a freak accident on Mt. Everest. Shattered and grieving for his friends, he vows never to climb again and retreats into a bottle of whiskey—until Kenzie Morgan shows up at his door with a tiny puppy asking for his help. He’s the last person in the world she should ask to foster this little furball. He’s barely capable of managing his own life right now, let alone caring for a helpless, adorable, fluffy puppy. But Conrad has always had a thing for Kenzie with her bright smile and sweet curves. One look into her pleading blue eyes, and he can’t say no.

The woman who won’t let him fall…

Kenzie Morgan’s life went to the dogs years ago. A successful search dog trainer and kennel owner, she gets her fill of adventure volunteering for the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team. The only thing missing from her busy life is love. It’s not easy finding Mr. Right in a small mountain town, especially when she’s unwilling to date climbers. She long ago swore never again to fall for a guy who might one day leave her for a rock. When Conrad returns from a climbing trip haunted by the catastrophe that killed his best friend, Kenzie can see he’s hurting and wants to help. She just might have the perfect way to bring him back to the world of the living. But friendship quickly turns into something more—and now she’s risking her heart to heal his.

In ebook and soon in print!

Vote for NAKED EDGE in the DABWAHA!

Sorry I’ve been AWOL. I still do not have Internet. It’s the longest I’ve been offline since the Internet was invented. I should be able to “get it up” tonight or tomorrow they say — “they” being Qwest.

First, I wanted to thank Ronlyn for keeping you all updated about my sudden disappearance. And I want to thank those of you who worked so hard to get the word out about the DABWAHA vote, which is happening right bloody now! Naked Edge was chosen as one of the finalists and needs your votes!

I hear that trash-talking is part of the DABWAHA tradition, but I’m not sure I’m capable of that. But I can pimp it with the best of them. So we’ll skip trash-talking and go for hyperbolic pimping instead.

But first things first: PRIZES!

The DABWAHA is famous for it’s amazing prizes, so there’s lots of good reasons to vote. I’ll add more. For every round that Naked Edge wins, I’ll give away a signed copy of the book. The more Naked Edge wins, the more changes you have to win. (To be entered into the drawings, comment below.)

So spread the word on your blogs, on Facebook, via Twitter and help Naked Edge take the DABWAHA.

10 Reasons Naked Edge Should Win the 2011 DABWAHA

10. Gabe is uncircumcized. How often in a romance novel is the hero’s dick different?

9. Kat is a virgin, but she’s not a stupid, mousy virgin, so you get 100 percent of the hymen but zero percent of the “I'm a virgin at age 26 for no good reason” TSTL.

8. Gabe and Kat have sex in the snow.

7. I practiced Kat’s near-fatal falling scene before writing it. I deserve something for that, don’t I? Well, don’t I? (Read about that here.)

6. Kat is American Indian through and through, not a Hollywood Indian. Naked Edge isn’t Dances with Rangers.

5. Julian Darcangelo + Marc Hunter + Gabe Rossiter

4. Some of the events in the book actually happened — and I was there reporting on them.

3. You never knew park rangers could be so damned sexy.

2. “I love you, Katherine James. I love you with everything I am. You're the best thing that ever happened to me. Remember that.”

1. Other authors write romantic suspense. I live it. (Except for the “romantic” part.)

So head over to DABWAHA.com, raise Naked Edge to March glory and collect prizes along the way. If that’s not win, what is?

You won round 1!! 79%! woohoo!

Round 2 will be fierce as Naked Edge will be pitted against either Something About You or All I've Ever Wanted, both of which are very popular but not as good, in my opinion. ;)

Go Team Gabe!

Hurray! Thanks, Scorpio! That's some seriously tough competition in Round 2.

And that's one copy of NAKED EDGE I'll be giving away for sure.

Yeah! Naked Edge made it to round 2! It's going to be a tough competition though.
I've made my boyfriends work buddies vote for you. They have absolutely no clue what the DABWAHA is all about (as we're in Germany) but I only had to promise cake to all of them next week. so, it was asure thing. :) One of them googled your books and saw the covers on amazon (and the covers of other romance books recommended) and gave me "a look". Rest assured, I returned "the look"! ;)

congrats!! after reading your top 10 list, i'm seriously reconsidering switching from team marc to team gabe.

Yay for the Round 1 win! And #10 on the Top Ten reasons...should come with a warning not to have liquids in your mouth while reading. Oh, well, I've been needing to clean the monitor and keyboard anyway...

Love all your reasons!! And, wow....how did I miss the uncircumcized thing??? I must go back and read all of those scenes again VERY carefully. Because clearly, I wasn't looking at Gabe closely enough. ;-)

Oh, and I couldn't get the DABWA link to work when I clicked on it. It may just be my stupid computer, so I'll try and google it. Must vote for Naked Edge!!!

If I hadn't already voted for your book I would be clicking over there right now :)

I haven't gotten to Naked Edge yet in the reading challenge after reading your top ten I want to skip ahead and read it! Like drop everything and pick it up after I finish this comment now :)

Love the top ten list! Congrats on winning round 1.

Lorie said...

Pamela, I tried to use the link to Dabwaha and got an error. I found it, but just wanted to let you know. Congratulations on winning Round 1!!!

Rachel said...

Woohoo! I'm so ready for Round 2, bring it on, my clicky finger is ready! =)

Off to vote now. You had me at the first reason.

j3nny said...

=] I voted! I know we're rooting for Naked Edge but I can't wait for Breaking Point to come out!

Flchn1 — Thanks so much! I appreciate it. I really haven't had time to read up on how DABWAHA works, but I think the next round of voting might not be until the 19th. That's Saturday, I believe.

Thanks, Jacquie! I appreciate your confidence! There are some fantastic books in that lineup, so getting out the vote will be crucial.

Thank you, L! :-)

Hi, Diane — I don't know HOW you could miss Gabe's intact penis. Let me find the page number for you... It's in Chapter 10: "She had stared at him, taking in every detail from the thick glans half-hidden inside its foreskin to the heavy weight of his testicles to the dark curls at his groin, amazed at her first sight of a real, live naked man — erotic, primal, arousing."

Yummy!

Hi, BookLover — I'm glad the Top 10 list has piqued your interest. I hope you enjoy the story! And thanks so much for the vote! It means a lot to me. :-)

Thank you, Sherry!

Lorie, thanks for letting me know. I fixed the link. The site is just http://dabwaha.com/

Hi, Rachel — I thank both you and your clicky finger. LOL! Thanks so much!

Hi, Jennie — Is the first reason No. 10 or No. 1? Foreskin or life experience? LOL! Have to ask.

Hi, J3nny! I hear you there. BREAKING POINT is not far away now! Only 46 days and a handful of hours.

Kara C said...

All very credible reasons. LOL!
Congrats, Pamela

CMD said...

Whoo, Round 2 will be tough. I <3 DABWAHA... so much better than NCAA March Madness, haha.

Those 10 reasons are legend... NE should go all the way based on that alone :)

CMD, you're right! If you look at the raw vote count, even if everyone who voted for me voted again, there wouldn't be enough votes to beat her fan base. SO...

How can we saturate the DABWAHA universe with these 10 reasons? LOL!

Any ideas anyone?

And I'm glad you all like them. I giggled quite a bit writing them up. But please name another author who fell off a bloody cliff and thought, "Well, I could always write about this," while she lay there bleeding and in critical condition.

Scorpio M. said...

Pamela, tell your writer friends. Maya Banks sent out a FB notice to her fans for Jaci Burton last night and they made up a 400+ vote differential in a few hours.

I was a bit miffed (LOL) cause I was rooting for Meljean (not to mention my bracket was blown to bits!) but Jaci ended up winning Round 1.

Did you know that YOU win an i-Pad if Naked Edge makes it to the end? Work those votes!!

Jess said...

I voted (3 times :D ) for Gabe and Kat! Glad they made it round 2!

~Jess

Love the list! You sure do make it hard to remain faithful to one man. Marc Hunter has been my man forever but the more times I re-read all the books, the more I think about straying. HA! You sure deserve to win this! Your books are amazing. I've got all my friends voting for you!

Hi, Scorpio — Meljean was far ahead the last time I looked.

I'll e-mail some author friends and see if they can help me out. :-)

That's a great idea. Thanks. And, no, I didn't know I win an iPad. That would be a fun little bit of tech, wouldn't it?

Hi, Wildcat — Thanks so very much! Kat and Gabe appreciate it. :-)

Hi, Tonya — Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope Zach makes it even harder for you to stay faithful. ;-)

Thanks again for helping to get the word out.

You basically all won Round 1 for me while my Internet was still down.

I-Team fans just flat-out rock!

I voted! Naked Edge all the way! Love the list Pamela! I'll be looking at round 2 and voting. Go Team Naked Edge!

Amy said...

Voted, of course ;)
Team Pam Clare FOR THE WIN!! By not trash-talking others, I believe you should earn extra votes for strength of character alone, don'tcha think? :P

Diane W. said...

LMHO Pam!! Clearly I blacked out somewhere between "She had stared at him" and "erotic, primal, arousing". I will be sure to go back and give Gabe the once over (or twice over) again. And again. :-)

LOVE IT...so funny Pamela!

CONGRAT's on winning round one!

Hey...I voted you to go all the way...don't let me down!!!

Congratulations, Jane!

You are the winner of the signed copy of NAKED EDGE. :-)

Please email me your mailing address, and I'll get this out to you.

I'm at pamelaclare(at)earthlink(dot)net.

And thanks again, everyone, for your support!

Hi, all —

Jaci Burton and I are colluding. She already won her Round 2 bracket. Congrats, Jaci!

We're going to help each other out. She's asking her fans to vote for me tomorrow, and I'm asking all of you to vote for her in her Round 3 match-up (which, for heavens sake, better not be against me!).

Just wanted to get the word out.

THANKS!

CMD said...

You need to get on Twitter or get your author friends who are on Twitter to get the word out! Julie's definitely on there-- and yeah, she has a massive fan base. I love me some Julie James when in the mood for a lighthearted contemporary, but romantic suspense is ultimately the way to go :)

Good luck in Round 2... I'm going to go see when I can vote again :-P

Hi, CMD — Oh, I am on Twitter and have been e-mailing and tweeting my author friends since I got back online Thursday.

Julie has a HUGE fan base, so I knew this was going to be tough.

Thanks so much for helping!

Hi Pam,
I have just voted for naked edge! which I just finished for the second time this morning and I can't imagine I didn't see that Gabe was uncircumsized, well maybe because that's not really an issue here!!
I'm done with the Challenge by the way!! :-) (EE, HE and UC - three times already!)
Hope you are doing great!
Bye Elise

Thanks so much, Pamela. I emailed you. I just voted. Good luck.

I've voted from both computers in the house and pimped my heart out. Sadly, I must now go to bed.

People, vote from all the computers you can find, your phone, ipod, ipad and anything else you can think of. Vote at the library, the coffee shop and anywhere else with an internet connection. Ask your friends, relatives and anyone else you can think of to vote for NAKED EDGE. Heck, use your neighbor's unsecured internet connection to vote if you can! This is DABWAHA, there are no rules! WE CAN DO THIS!

(…and I obviously need to calm down and get some sleep…)
