I grew up in Colorado at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, then lived in Denmark and traveled throughout Europe before coming back to Colorado. I have two adult sons, whom I cherish. I started my writing career as a columnist and investigative reporter and eventually became the first woman editor of two different papers. Along the way, my team and I won numerous state and several national awards, including the National Journalism Award for Public Service. In 2011, I was awarded the Keeper of the Flame Lifetime Achievement Award for Journalism. Now I write historical romance and contemporary romantic suspense.
Lately, I've been getting the same questions a dozen times a day, so I thought I'd post some answers here and perhaps alleviate some confusion.
Q: Do you plan to write more books in the MacKinnon's Rangers series?
A: I’m writing one more book in that series, Connor’s book, which is titled Defiant. I do plan to give Lord William and Captain Joseph their own stories, though I’m not sure when I will write them. Watch this blog for excerpts from Defiant! (See my release schedule above.)
Q. When is Connor MacKinnon's book going to be released?
A. Defiant, the third book in the MacKinnon’s Rangers series — Connor’s story — will be out on July 3, 2012. The first two books in the series, Surrender and Untamed, have just been reissued with new material and are available both in print and in e-book formats.
Q. Do you plan to write more I-Team books?
A: Absolutely. Breaking Point came out on May 3 and did very well, so I plan to do two or three more I-Team books. Watch my blog for updates. I know a lot of you love Holly — I do, too — but I'm saving Horny Holly for last. In the meantime, that leaves Natalie’s replacement on the I-Team, as well as Joaquin. For those of you who don’t know, there is one I-Team novella available as an ebook on Amazon.com and B&N. Titled “Heaven Can’t Wait,” it tells Lissy and Will’s story.
In addition, I’m launching a series of novellas called I-Team After Hours to help readers through the long wait between books. Skin Deep, the first I-Team After Hours novella, will be out in March 2012. It tells the story of Marc Hunter’s younger sister, Megan.
Q. Why do you go so long between books?
A. I write two different sub-genres, plus until now I’ve worked full time. On top of that, I’m a very picky writer and try very hard to write the best book possible. I’d rather make people wait than churn out garbage sequels. I’m now working only as a columnist, which frees up a lot more time for writing. Hopefully, you’ll be seeing a lot more books from me — and waiting less in between books.
