Book Releases

Barely Breathing (A Colorado High Country Novel) — Look for the first book in my new Colorado High Country series on May 10! This new contemporary series is set in the small mountain community of Scarlet Springs and focuses on the lives and adventures of members of an alpine search and rescue team. It will be available in print and ebook, with audiobook coming sometime this fall.

Soul Deep out in audiobook! — Jack West, widower, rancher and former Army Ranger, gets his own love story in this special I-Team novella, which was picked by readers at Grave Tells as the Best Contemporary Romance of 2015. It will be out in audiobook any day now.

Seduction Game is out in paperback, (I-Team #7) — Holly and Nick’s story is out in all formats — ebook, audiobook, and paperback. Look for it in Wal-Mart, the Kroger chain of stores, Barnes & Noble, and your local bookseller.

Dead By Midnight: An I-Team Christmas is out! — The grand finale of the I-Team series finds all the couples you love brought together when terrorists attack holiday festivities at a historica hotel in downtown Denver. It’s bad news for the terrorists. They have no clue what they’ve done when they take Marc Hunter and his friends hostage. Featuring cameos by the men of New York Times bestselling author Kaylea Cross’s Hostage Rescue Team series. Available in ebook and paperback.

It's time to celebrate!

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you already know my good news, but I’ll share it here just in case some of you missed it.

On Monday, I heard from my wonderful editor at Penguin, who said she “loved, loved, loved” Defiant and felt “haunted” by it. I was in the shower when she called, but when I heard her message, which was so glowing, I got so excited I forgot how to use my cell phone and kept pushing the wrong buttons in my attempt to call her back.

We talked for about 20 minutes about parts of the book she had found particularly touching, parts of the book where I wondered whether I had successfully pulled of this scene or that scene. I was so relieved to hear that she felt all of the emotions in the book were earned. She predicts lots of tears, so make sure you have tissues handy come July.

July 3
And here’s some news I haven’t shared: Although this book is long — longer than anything I’ve written — she’s not changing it. No revisions. Nothing. What I wrote is what you’ll get, together with an afterword and some very special artwork.

So break out the champagne and the chocolate!

We also talked about the reissue of Ride the Fire, which now has a publication date of February 2013. I’m not sure why it’s so far off in the future. It will feature a fresh edit, the never-before-released-as-yet-unwritten epilogue, and a new cover.

We also talked I-Team briefly. She’s scheduled me for March 2013 for the next I-Team book, which will feature the former television broadcast reporter who takes Natalie’s place on the I-Team.

I will have an ad put together soon (I hope) that you can copy and put on your blogs and FB pages if you want to help spread the word about the book. For whatever reason, Colonial America is a harder sell with romance readers, so I have that uphill battle to fight, along with the fact that I haven’t had a new historical out since 2008.

In the meantime, those of you who haven’t met the MacKinnon Brothers have roughly five months to catch up with Surrender, the first book in the series, and Untamed, the second. Both are newly re-edited and re-issued with new content and new covers.

Thanks for your continued support on Project: Happiness. I’ll have updates on my progress soon!

In the meantime, Seductive Musings is giving away a digital copy of Sweet Release to one Musings follower to celebrate February and Valentine’s Day. Click here to be entered for a chance to win! And thanks to Seductive Musings for the giveaway.

I'm so very happy for you and am so excited that there will be no changes at all, that is wonderful and really tells how amazing the book is!

And you know how happy I am about Ride the Fire, I only wish it were coming out sooner but oh well, I can wait(just barely)!

Ugh, I'm so pumped now for all these great books and it all seems to far away! At least I have Megan to tide me over!

WOW! I was anxious to read Defiant before, but now....July can't come soon enough!

Congrats!

No changes???? Now THAT is incredibly awesome...and uh...kinda unheard of. Still worried you're not a good writer??? Because if you are, I will have to transcribe your editor's comments onto a banner, drive across Wyoming, and staple it to your house. ;)

I'm so excited for you!! Take some time to bask in your awesomeness!

OMGoodness!!!

How awesome for you.....doing Snoopy Happy Dance......I knew you were and are spunky enough to do ANYTHING you set your mind to!

You write some wonderful books and the proof was in the call from your editor.
You did it!!
Major YAY for you!

I'm thrilled to know that nothing was changed and that DEFIANT is going to be a longer book. :-)
I just can't get enough of those MacKinnon men....le-sigh...

I will be celebrating in your honor with an icy cold bottle of RC pop and some chocolate! LOL!!

Wishing many more happy calls from your editor!!

(((hugs)))

No revisions at all? I may be forced to have a beer in your honour - but that doesn't take much forcing, so I'll just send big and heartfelt congratulations your way. You must be on top of the world! When will DEfiant be available for preorder?

*bounce* *bounce* *bounce* Can. Not. Wait!!!!!! :oD

How awesome is it that she is taking it with NO CHANGES? Woohoo!

Hi, Landin — Thanks so much! I'm glad you have Morgan to keep you company for the time being.

Ride the Fire is a very special book for me, too! I can’t wait to have it out there again.

Hi, Booklover — I really hope you all love it as much as my editor did. It's very different from either SURRENDER or UNTAMED. I'll be posting more about it soon! And thank you!

Hi, Zeek — It was so funny! I wanted so much to talk to her, and I just kept fumbling with the phone. And I don't even have a complicated smart phone. I have an old, stupid phone. :-)

I know you enjoy the historicals, so I'm happy finally to have something that you and my other historical readers and friends are excited about.

Hi, Diane — You know, no matter how many books I write, something in me is terrified by the thought that somehow everyone who loves the stories got it wrong or that I won't be able to write another one. I'm trying to deal with that fear, because, obviously, it's irrational. I asked my editor if all writers were like me, and she said many were. Then I asked her if writers are just crazy. And she said, "Yeah, a little bit."

Hmmm. I resemble that remark! LOL!

Hi, Dalila — Mmm! RC pop and chocolate. That made me totally crave chocolate right there. LOL!

I was afraid I was pushing the limits on DEFIANT. It's long, and it has a map AND an afterword. To have all of that in the book just thrills me!

I'll be sharing more about the illustration that's in it later.

Thanks so much for sharing my excitement! :-)

Hi, Jennie — I hope you enjoyed that beer. :-)

And thank you! It was a huge relief to know that I was wrong again.

DEFIANT is available for preorder now, at least in the U.S. Not sure about Canada. It's up on Amazon.com for preorder.

I'll be sharing more details about the story, or at least its background, soon!
