Holding On (Colorado High Country #6) —
The Colorado High Country series returns with Conrad and Kenzie's story.

A hero barely holding on…

Harrison Conrad returned to Scarlet Springs from Nepal, the sole survivor of a freak accident on Mt. Everest. Shattered and grieving for his friends, he vows never to climb again and retreats into a bottle of whiskey—until Kenzie Morgan shows up at his door with a tiny puppy asking for his help. He’s the last person in the world she should ask to foster this little furball. He’s barely capable of managing his own life right now, let alone caring for a helpless, adorable, fluffy puppy. But Conrad has always had a thing for Kenzie with her bright smile and sweet curves. One look into her pleading blue eyes, and he can’t say no.

The woman who won’t let him fall…

Kenzie Morgan’s life went to the dogs years ago. A successful search dog trainer and kennel owner, she gets her fill of adventure volunteering for the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team. The only thing missing from her busy life is love. It’s not easy finding Mr. Right in a small mountain town, especially when she’s unwilling to date climbers. She long ago swore never again to fall for a guy who might one day leave her for a rock. When Conrad returns from a climbing trip haunted by the catastrophe that killed his best friend, Kenzie can see he’s hurting and wants to help. She just might have the perfect way to bring him back to the world of the living. But friendship quickly turns into something more—and now she’s risking her heart to heal his.

In ebook and soon in print!

SKIN DEEP is out on audiobook! GIVEAWAY

It has been a very long time since I’ve updated my blog. I would apologize except that I’m pretty sure you’d rather have me working on Striking Distance (I-Team 6) than blog posts. Just a guess, but I’m pretty sure I’m right about that!

The good news is that Striking Distance is moving along, slowly but surely, and I’m doing all I can to meet my May 31 deadline so that you’ll have the book by November.

I’ve also been busy shopping for a gown to wear to the 2013 RITA Awards, where Defiant (MacKinnon’s Rangers 3) is a finalist. I’ve never had any fashion sense or skill with this sort of thing, so I expect I’ll end up looking like Björk or something.

In the meantime, Nate and Megan have made it onto audiobook.  Their novella, Skin Deep, is now available on Audible.com, on iTunes and on Tantor Audio’s website.

I’ve had time to listen to only about half of it so far, and having Kaleo Griffith bringing these characters to life, some for the first time, some for the fourth or fifth time, is such a delight! Those of you who suffer from OKD — that’d Obsessive Kaleo Disorder — will get a fix here that will hopefully hold you over until November. I especially love his portrayal of old-time Colorado rancher Jack West, the former Army Ranger who happens to be Nate’s father. As Benjy joked as we listened in the car, “And now for the real romance of this story — the relationship between Jack and Emily.”

Of course, Jack is 63 and Emily is 4, but theirs is a love story of a different kind.

The audiobook includes the I-Team short, “Marc and Julian Make a Beer Run,” which I wrote in response to a joke that someone made on the I-Team Facebook group page. “I’d read anything you wrote about the I-Team heroes, even if it was just Marc and Julian making a beer run.’

Her words percolated in my imagination, and the result is hopefully something you will enjoy, written as a thank you to the I-Team Facebook group members, one of whom created the little e-card you see above here. Fun!

In other audiobook news, I do know for certain now that the MacKinnon’s Rangers series will begin its release in July with Surrender coming out on July 15 and Untamed and Defiant slated for release in August.

To celebrate the release of Skin Deep and the crazy “Beer Run,” I’m giving away one signed copy of the full CD set to a lucky winner. To enter, just post below and tell me what you love most about the I-Team series. And remember to leave your contact information so that I can reach you if you win! If you want to tweet about the audiobook or share your love of the I-Team on Facebook or Twitter, I’d be grateful, but it's not necessary.

Now back to Javier and Laura. Things are heating up for those two...

The characters are real...strengths, weaknesses, flaws. Kaleo brings them all to life...to the degree that when I am re-reading an I-Team book, I 'hear' Kaleo's voice in my head!

I love that the characters have the ability to make me laugh and cry.

I love the moments of the meetings of heroine and heroes in your books, real life situations and tearful happy outcomes.

I love the friendships and camaraderie that the guys all share. It makes them feel so real!

I love the realism of the series and the thought provoking topics. After reading Unlawful Contact I did my own research on the plight of pregnant women in the penal system. Very eye opening. This was not the only time one of your books has lead me to the library.

PS My fave couple is Gabe and Kat.

What I love best about the series?? That's a tough question when the books are perfect, but for me, I LOVE the friendships, not just between the women, but between the men, too. And I love revisiting them book after book. And I love the passion. And I love their honor. And their wit... see? Can't narrow it down to just one thing.

I love the I-Team series because each segment pertains to real life issues that need our attention or at the very least acknowledgement that these issues are real and exist in our society.

Hot service oriented men and phenomenal women characters are pretty awesome too.

Oh and really hot, sexy cover models. lol!!!

What's not to love. The characters are real, the issues can be and are real, the interaction between the characters is fun, the emotion is real.

Your books are great!!! Getting to know you makes them even better. The audiobooks are awesome!!!! llsalas@juno.com Lori S

I have loved all of the characters in the I-Team series because they feel like friends that I am spending time catching up with. The heroines are such strong role models and the heroes are usually so damaged and the combination of the two coming together to get through their situation makes for a captivating book. This series is a true keeper.

I have read each I-Team novel at least once, and have listened to all of them on audio. I'm just finishing Breaking Point just in time for Skin Deep. I so enjoy the strong women, and the men who are hard and very Alpha male on the outside, but loving and protective on the inside! Kaleo brings the wonderful characters to life!
Thank you Pamela...

I love that you can laugh and cry with these books. That each book keep the characters from other books in them so you know what is going on in their lives but it never over powers the main characters of the book. I also love how strong the heroines are! Thank you for the chance to win!

I really love that it was so easy to get into the books from the first to the latest one out and the roller coaster of emotions that you are able to get across to us through each book. I love the tough guys each one being different but yet they have emotions that make them that more awsome to read the heartbreaking stuff then when the stuff hits the fan, and they lean on each other for the strength to overcome whatever it is to be with the one they love.
That is why I love the I-team series

What is not to love about each book in this series??? I love the characters and the different situations, but what I love most is that it is like a family that keeps growing. Each story connects and builds with the history you have created. Thank you Pamela Clare for such an enjoyable literary experience (and Kaleo for an enjoyable audible one)!! :)

No one writes an alpha male character like Pamela Clare ... tough and strong exterior and sweet, sweet interior. Heroic, without being overbearing, you want to go to a BBQ and have a beer with these guys.

I loved every book more than the previous one, and in the end I loved them all because they gave me romances, suspense, joy, crying, everything and listening to an audio book would be a first for me. :)

I love the I-Team books because I get swept into the story every single time I read them. I have Skin Deep/Marc and Julian Make a Beer Run on my Kindle and when I'm having a bad morning or afternoon at work I pull my Kindle out and read from that story and it always makes me feel better. I've never listened to audio books before but now I want to very, very much. Contact: micheles26 at yahoo dot com.

I read the first book about six weeks ago and immediately went out and got the rest of the series. I love the relationship between the characters--how they complement each other. I can't wait for the next one.

What I love most....duh, ZACH!!!!!! :)

Seriously, I love everything about the series. I can't find fault or any negative other than that the books end too quickly. The series is one that I recommend time & time again!

I-Team--strong heroines and the hottest alpha males around. The love support, and friendship of the team and their males is one of the greatest appeals of the series.
Thank you!!!

I love how well-researched the plots are. Usually the term "world-building" is applied to PNR or fantasy books, but there's so much rich detail that goes into the I-Team plots that these books deserve the term, too. I can't believe how much I learned about the Narco-culture from Breaking Point!

I like how the books encompass a wide range of genres, not just romantic suspense. They are so well researched and when I'm done reading, I feel like I've read 5 (not including novellas) very different yet unique stories that stand apart from one another but are connected through the reporters. I LOVE THAT!!! Not to mention all that pulse-pounding and nail biting drama! Thanks Pamela for writing such dynamic stories and thanks for giving us the opportunity to win this cool prize!

I love that the stories are so well written with interesting plots and such real characters that it makes me feel like I have met them in real life.

What I really like is the sweet scenes. The ones that say so much, in the smallest of ways. They are the most touching sometimes and always make the stories that much better.

I LOVE your I-Team series! I have read them all and would love to hear them interpreted into audio books. While I am anxiously awaiting Striking Distance, I am glad you are sticking to your principles to only put out quality. There are so many authors I have dropped because their series have taken hits due to deadline pressures. Keep up the good work! larabora at verizon dot net

Pamela, I just saw this post so perhaps your contest is over. Congrats on the new audiobook!

I think the better question to ask is what DON'T I like about the I-Team series?

But my favorite component is how much integrity each of the characters possesses. It makes it easy to get emotionally involved and root for the good guys!

Sorry I've been MIA! Been busy writing!

OK, now to gather all your names and put them into a contest randomizer to pick the winner!

Thanks to all of you for your wonderful comments about the I-Team series. Consider this a sort of unofficial poll. It's fun to see what works for each reader. So I really do appreciate the time you took to participate.

I'll be back shortly with a WINNER! :-)

JOY! You are the winner of a signed copy of SKIN DEEP the audiobook. I'll be in touch with you shortly.

Thanks to everyone who participated!

Again, I'm sorry not to have answered individual posts. I try to do that, but I'm really working hard to meet this deadline.

Hugs to all.
