Holding On (Colorado High Country #6) —
The Colorado High Country series returns with Conrad and Kenzie's story.

A hero barely holding on…

Harrison Conrad returned to Scarlet Springs from Nepal, the sole survivor of a freak accident on Mt. Everest. Shattered and grieving for his friends, he vows never to climb again and retreats into a bottle of whiskey—until Kenzie Morgan shows up at his door with a tiny puppy asking for his help. He’s the last person in the world she should ask to foster this little furball. He’s barely capable of managing his own life right now, let alone caring for a helpless, adorable, fluffy puppy. But Conrad has always had a thing for Kenzie with her bright smile and sweet curves. One look into her pleading blue eyes, and he can’t say no.

The woman who won’t let him fall…

Kenzie Morgan’s life went to the dogs years ago. A successful search dog trainer and kennel owner, she gets her fill of adventure volunteering for the Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue Team. The only thing missing from her busy life is love. It’s not easy finding Mr. Right in a small mountain town, especially when she’s unwilling to date climbers. She long ago swore never again to fall for a guy who might one day leave her for a rock. When Conrad returns from a climbing trip haunted by the catastrophe that killed his best friend, Kenzie can see he’s hurting and wants to help. She just might have the perfect way to bring him back to the world of the living. But friendship quickly turns into something more—and now she’s risking her heart to heal his.

In ebook and soon in print!

Trouble with wireless/More thoughts on sex in books

So, we got wireless in our town. The entire town is a hot spot. I'm just having a bit of trouble figuring out how to make it work with blogger, which is why I haven't posted recently. But I've gotten this far, so that's exciting! It's going to be great to have faster access to the 'Net and to VoIP programs like Skype. I do some serious Skyping to Europe, and the lag time on dial-up is hideous!

I've moved on to the next chapter in UNLAWFUL CONTACT — Chapter 18, to be specific — and will be writing lots more sex. Yes, it's that part of the story where they finally get to steep themselves in passion for a while. I'm enjoying the writing, which is nice.

Until recently I would have said that there really can't be too much sex in a romance novel. And then I read a book that had too much sex. Every scene felt like a construct to generate another sex scene, like a porn movie where every little thing becomes the prelude to more sex. While the sex was reasonably well written, after a while, it became... dull. I didn't care if he was giving it to her again or not.

I'm thinking ahead for this story, thinking of some fun scenarios I haven't written. Extreme Exposure had snow sex and jiggle stick sex. Hard Evidence had shower sex. So what's been in my head for this book is hot tub sex and mirror sex (and maybe some pearl vibrator sex).

What are your favorite sexual fantasies in romances? Oral sex? Threesomes? Bondage? Rough sex?

Come on, spill!

For me, bondage can only be of the vanilla variety — no hardcore BDSM. And I'm not interested in writing or reading anal sex. But rough sex and oral sex and showers and vibrators. Yum. Mild bondage. Mirrors. Maybe even a home gym scene. (Haven't you ever thought those weight benches resemble stirrups or am I by my pervvy self on this score?)

Love to hear your thoughts. Get dirty with me!

Hi,Pamela

I'm with you. No anal, vanilla bondage. Some of my secret fantasies besides rough sex, mirrors, etc would be on horseback or on a motorcycle (not moving), hadn't thought about the gym equipment, now I will though! On KMM's board we were discussing how looking a produce would never be the same. Cucumbers and squashes now take on a new meaning. *BWEG*

I'm so glad you are back in the writing swing and things are so much better at work.

Hugs,
Debbie H

Pamela, I walked upstairs to the DH's gym and I gotta say, hon, it aint really doin' it for me..

It's kinda whiffy and spartan and not conducive to getting it on.

I am totally into showers, the ocean, um, kitchen and or bathroom benches, um, car hoods, um, need I go on?

Bit of being dominated and a little rough, as long as there is a connection between the characters.
Sex for it's own sake, gee, that would be gratuitious right?
Anyway, that is not my cuppa tea.
And this little black duck is not interested in earning her brown wings, or reading about it, yucky!

Prolly shouldn't have replied after too much wine, but there you have it. J xx

P.S. That whole word verification thing is a tad difficult after a nice bottle of red...

Shouldn't it be letter verification?
I mean that is not a word right?
i think you should know this stuff...I am sure it should be "Letter Verification".

Okay, I'll go now...

Hmmm.. I am not in it for the "sex for no reason" sex. I have read books with "too much sex" (ha! but, not many!!!)

No anal for me, although I know some who don't mind it (thankfully, my DH is not interested...) I would have to say that the place doesn't really matter to me -- as long as the connection and passion are there. Secret fantasies? Probably like DebbieH, I have a thing for "alpha males" which are the take-control and lead the way guys. But, I don't want them to be disrespectful, do you know what I'm saying? Rough is good as long as they aren't into pain...

So that's that, I guess...

xoxo,
K

(HA! My word verification is "Zalehoe"... LMAO...)

Hmmm...

Hood of the car — that's pretty sexy! Hadn't thought of that.

The ocean — that's amazing, too. Too bad there's no ocean in Colorado! If I put my characters into a mountain stream, the hero's dick will shrink so much she'll have to send a search and rescue squad to find it.

Tables, kitchen counters, the floor, the wall, hot tubs — BTDT and love it.

Nes, I'm with you on everything except the anal and the threesomes. I guess I should say I HAVE tried the threesome thing and found one too many women involved. I love chicks, but not that way. If it were a threesome with two guys, it might have been different. LOL!

And I love having my hair pulled back like that, too. That's the kind of mild domination I like — a guy who's confident enough to be in command and be a tiny bit forceful (but not damaging).

If my mother reads this entry, she'll die. LOL!

Thanks for the suggestions. There are a couple of special cars in this story -- Aimee, can you see Marc & Sophie on the Jag or the 55 Chevy? -- so that's an idea I might just steal from y'all.

Joanie, I LMAO at the "letter verification" thing. Wish your wine were in my bloodstream.

Kristi, nice to see you here!

DebbieH — We had this convo via e-mail, but I had to laugh about the veggies too. As I said, I laugh at the medieval romances that refer to the "plum-sized head." Which variet of plum?
