I started my writing career as a columnist and investigative reporter and eventually became the first woman editor of two different papers. Along the way, my team and I won numerous state and several national awards, including the National Journalism Award for Public Service. In 2011, I was awarded the Keeper of the Flame Lifetime Achievement Award for Journalism. Now I write historical romance and contemporary romantic suspense.

Lamentation









The pictures of one of my rose beds are meant to cheer me up. Tomorrow it's back to the real world, and by noon, Marc and Sophie will be far from my thoughts. April is probably the busiest month at the paper, together with August, so my plate will be full.

And how far did I get? I needed to write ten chapters and edit them by tonight.

Instead, I finished Chapter 21, wrote 22, 23, and 24 and am about to finish 25. So that leaves 26-30, plus the epilogue, unwritten. And then all 400 pages have to be edited.

I wish I wrote faster, but I just don't. I'm trying not to be angry with myself for being late and later and later with these books. I just can't slap words on the page in order to have words on the page. They have to feel right to me.

So thank you everyone for your support during this big push. With your encouragement, I got what is about a month's writing for me done this week because of my time off. Now I need to somehow keep up at least a chapter a week until I'm done in order to get this to New York by the end of April.

I will definitely keep the excerpts coming.

As for the roses, a large part of my yard is flower garden. I call this one my fairy garden because when the giant delphiniums and roses bloom at the same time, as in these photos, it really looks magical. I've never spotted an actual fairy, though the garden is redolent with aphids. Every year, we unleash ravenous hoards of lady bugs on the plants, and that helps us keep pesticides out of the garden.

I love spring and early summer. By early June when all of my roses bloom, the yard will smell like roses. It's heavenly!

You know, one thing I've always wanted was a flower garden... full of roses, lilies, lotsa of flowers I could cut and bring inside or just sit outside to enjoy. But, *sigh*, just haven't been successful. We've got crappy soil, I guess.

I would love to have something like yours out here. Enjoy it - the seasons change too fast and you gotta catch it while you can. And, I dunno, I'm thinking there's got to be a flower faerie or two lurking in those blooms.

Your roses are beautiful! We are about to start house hunting and that is on my list of have to haves, a place for a large flower garden. The granddaughter and I planted flowers in containers so I move them when we are ready.

You know KMM has said she is a slow writer. I think it's so much better to be a slow writer and love your characters than like you said, just slap words down to get it on it's way. You and KMM, make our fans love the the stories and characters so much. They become a part of our lives and very real to us.

I believe in garden fairies. There is a plaque I want to get that says "Don't Piss Off The Fairies" to hang in the garden.

You will get this book out, just be patient and remember to breathe.

Your roses are gorgeous!!! I just suprervised the planting of 5 new rose bushes (along with a 16 foot maple and a 10 foot rhodie) in my front yard. I'm hoping they'll take and be beautiful.
Don't beat yourself up about the book being late. You have to feel good about what you produce. If you just threw it together you'd know and wouldn't feel good about the finished product. You're doing an amazing job. Keep it up! (((hugs)))
I often remind myself (and so now I'll remind you) to take life as it comes. Don't be so busy doing everything that *must* be done that you forget to take a moment and live you life, enjoying the things that bring a smile to your face. Those are the moments that make happy memories.

Love the roses! Mine are starting to show a bit of green, which has me so excited for summer now.

I'm with everyone else when it comes to writing slower. I much prefer books that are written with love, rather than haste. It's going to be so well worth the effort, PC!

Hey Sweetie! Your garden of delights looks amazing! I can see PLENTY of fairys in those photos!

Hey - I miss you. We have had our days and nights on the rez recently with a lot of support and communication. Staying neutral as possible. No roses out there. Just the piercing wind, red sand and lone mesas. Thanks for the text message fun. A phone call would have been cut off for sure, but the text message goes as service pops up out of nowhere...must be the coyotes playing.
