I started my writing career as a columnist and investigative reporter and eventually became the first woman editor of two different papers. Along the way, my team and I won numerous state and several national awards, including the National Journalism Award for Public Service. In 2011, I was awarded the Keeper of the Flame Lifetime Achievement Award for Journalism. Now I write historical romance and contemporary romantic suspense.

My new car
Just thought I'd pop in and share a photo of my new baby. The car that was totaled on May 9 was a 2006 Nissan Sentra. I loved that car, and it repaid my love by saving my son's life. After driving around in borrowed vehicles for a month, I finally brought home a new car!
It's a cherry-red Mazda 3, and it's so fun to drive! I never thought I'd have anything like this, but after test-driving it and seeing all of its extra features, I really felt that it would hold its resale value longer than another Nissan. Plus people told me that, because I'm not a car person at all. But what they said was backed up by stuff on the Internet — so it must be the truth, right?
I'm happy to say that SueZ has already told me she'll allow me to pick her up from the airport in this car. So she's not ashamed to be seen with me any longer.
Untamed is written and in to the publisher, but it's doubtful that readers will see the version I wrote. Due to increases in the cost of shipping and the laws of physics which state that only so many books can fit in a box, the publisher is looking at cutting possibly as much as 100 pages in order to make it smaller. Needless to say, I am both heart-broken and pissed off. I ended up feeling very satisfied with the version I sent in. I hate to see anything cut from Morgan and Amalie's story.
I'm taking some time off this week to reeee-lax, which I desperately need to do. Between computer crashes, car crashes, graduations, award ceremonies, movie premiers and book deadlines, things have been too busy and too stressful.
Then I promise we'll play "I-Team Trivia!"

Yeah!!! New car! I love it. Definitly take some R&R for yourself. Had to myself after daughter's graduation (and all the extra stuff that goes with it) and working the N.O. Jazz Fest, I'm exhausted. You must be past the point of exhaustion, so here's some {hugs} and enjoy the relaxation.
Can't wait to read Untamed. I'm sure it will be great even if the publisher has to cut.

I really really hope that the editors realize that every little word contributes to the fabulous story you wove, and they leave it alone.
Hope you are doing some great R&R and have pampered yourself a bit like I ordered :)

Love the new car! i've always driven Toyotas, but the Mazda looks really cool.
Sorry they are making you cut so many pages. I personally like to read longer books.
I Love it. I looked at a mazda Speed 6 but it was manual and i can't drive those very well. Nice, glad you got the one you liked.
Also, I wanted to tell you that I loved the last I-Team book, I just started getting back into reading and that was a wonderful book. I am now looking for the others in the series, even my husband read some of it on vaction. Can't wait for the next one. BAMA
Pamela - I really think your fan will pay a bit more for your books, so please beg the publishers to keep those 100 pages!! I get the cost issue, but publishers also have to realize the supply/demand issue. If you disappoint your fans, that means less sales. I for one would happily pay top dollar for the full version of Untamed!! I can't wait!!

Bo, red is supposed to bring wealth. That's what the Chinese think, anyway. And, yes, it's so nice to have my own wheels now. LOL on your plans for torture. The GOOD NEWS is that the publisher listened to me lament and then went to production and told them they HAD to find a way to cut less. So it looks like they might have to cut only 25 pages after trying all their magic production tricks. Be ready to wear your reading glasses...

Hi, Cheryle. And it does go ZOOM! Last night, I was driving home from Estes Park in the mountains west of Boulder and found myself taking curves at speeds I'd never even dared before -- and it felt like NOTHING. It was a real kick. Now I just have to watch out for speed traps...

Hi, Liza. You know I think a lot of people prefer to read longer stories. These days, books are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher -- not quite right. And thanks! I love the color, too. I can tell you I'm much less likely to lose it in a parking lot. LOL!

Hi, Karly! You know, I suggested that very thing -- add a buck to the price and sell it that way. And that idea floated like a lead balloon. Oh, well. But I'm hopeful you all will see a version very similar to the one that I wrote. I intend to post any significant cuts on my website.

Thanks for asking about my mss. THE PATRICIAN'S FORTUNE actually won the grand prize in The Suzannah this year! Only 6 finalists form ALL sub-genres were selected. Damon was pretty proud.
His story's first line "Gods, he hoped he didn't scream when they drove the nails into his flesh."
Now, I'm still not satisfied with Morgan getting ANY cutting. Tell the production folks to figure something else out. (Heck, I'll get a magnifying glass if I have to)

In Joan's story, set during the Roman Empire (it is Empire, right, and not Republic?), the hero is about... to... be... crucified.
I read that line and — BAM! — I was hooked. Of course, Rome was one of my areas of special interest in graduate school.
